Potensic recently introduced a brand new quadcopter called the Potensic U42. This is the latest drone geared toward beginners who are looking for an affordable entry-level Wi-Fi drone to start with. Like many other drones under $100, the Potensic U42 comes with a design that resembles similarities to the popular DJI Phantom 4. Although, it is smaller and features in two different colors: black and green.

If you are a beginner and you are looking for an easy to drone to fly around. Look no further, because you have come to the right spot. In our in-depth Potensic U42 drone review, we are going to cover the basics such as: inside the box, features, design, performance, and remote controller. Entry-level drones are popular because they provide a great training experience that paves the path before you start flying professional camera drones such as Mavic drones.

Inside The Box:

Potensic U42 Drone Review

To kickstart the Potensic U42 drone review, we are going to talk about what is inside the package. I think this is the most important part out of all reviews. Because you get to know what is included in the box and what isn’t included. This helps you prepare to purchase additional batteries, parts, and whatnot.

Inside the box, you should expect to get these following items: a drone, a set of extra propellers, a battery, a remote controller, a USB charger, and of course User Manual. I recommend keeping the user manual if you need some additional clarification. It is also integral if you need to contact Potensic for troubleshooting purposes. Not to forget to mention that installing the propeller guards on the drone is absolutely a must-do thing if you want to ensure protection against impact and collisions.

Design & Build Quality

At first glance, the design appearance of the Potensic U42 drone looks to be professionally crafted. It features jet black coating with black and green propellers on each opposite motor arms. The material that is used to craft this drone is made of durable ABS plastic which provides its sturdy structure and improved impact resistance.

Potensic U42 FPV Drone Review

It also comes with additional features that are important for visual purposes such as built-in LED lights. Underneath the drone is a 720P HD camera that provides video feed directly to your smartphone. I especially liked the fact that Potensic U42 FPV drone is outfitted with landing legs that supports safe landings. But also to protect the camera by maintaining distance to the ground. In the rear is where the battery is located at.

A single battery charge provides the drone up to 7 minutes of flight time. Which isn’t that bad considered the fact that there are other drones such as ScharkSpark SS41 The Beetle and Eachine E511 that are far better in terms of flight time. However, if you are simply looking for a fun drone that doesn’t come with all these fancy designs. Potensic U42 is one of the best FPV drones to check out.

Flight Performance

Getting to know how well an FPV drone performs is another important part of the Potensic U42 drone review. When it comes to performance, you want to consider the ease of flying a drone. Secondly, you want to consider usability such as how comfortable and easy is it to command the drone. This camera drone is outfitted with several beginner-friendly features that help out with its flight performance. For instance, it is equipped with altitude hold which maintains its height stability and flight precision.

Potensic U42 FPV Drone Performance

In addition to that, the Potensic U42 FPV drone has three-speed modes. By default, the drone will be flying at the lowest speed setting so that beginners can learn the basics of flight controls. Once you master the flight controls, you can increase the speed to challenge yourself. This is a very good way to practice and understand the basics of how drone flight works before you plan to spend on high-end drones such as Mavic Air and Phantom 4.

The Potensic U42 FPV drone delivers enough propulsion force to support both indoor and outdoor activities. However, we strongly recommend not to fly the drone during windy conditions as it doesn’t have enough propulsion force to withstand it. This quadcopter is capable of handling level two to level three winds with relative ease. Overall, this little bird is pretty easy to control for beginners.

Features

Don’t underestimate its portable and compact size. At the price tag that Potensic U42 FPV drone is going for, this little bird has several features up its sleeves. This quadcopter is capable of performing 360-degree flips to impress your audience. Furthermore, it incorporates automatic functions such as automatic takeoff/landing and returns home. Thanks to several safety features, it is easy to keep this drone safe.

Potensic U42 FPV Drone Features

As mentioned previously in the performance section, other features help improve the drone’s aerial capabilities. For instance, the Potensic U42 drone comes with speed mode which you can adjust the setting. That feature is useful because it helps you train and improves your flight skills. Also, you can capture still and video with this drone. The footage captured during the flight sessions will be delivered directly to your mobile device.

Bottom Line

To conclude the Potensic U42 drone review, we think this is a high-quality camera quadcopter packed with awesome aerial capabilities and performance. If you are looking for a camera drone to start with that has great flexibility. There is no other drone that does a good job than the Potensic U42 FPV drone. With the price tag, this quadcopter is going for, it is a great deal to check out.

Not to forget to mention that the Potensic U42 FPV drone comes with an egomaniac remote controller. The functions are very basic and simple enough for beginners to learn how to fly a drone. In addition to that, it has a mount holder that allows you to mount your mobile device and enable FPV mode. Design-wise, performance-wise, features-wise, the Potensic U42 FPV drone is an excellent entry-level camera drone for beginners. This drone can be bought here.
