Nano-sized drones are very popular, especially for beginners and first-time flyers. Well-known drones such as HS170 Predator and A20 quadcopter have found their ways home all across the world. With that being said, the Potensic introduces a brand new nano-sized drone for beginners. The Potensic D20 is the latest drone that offers superior agility and nimble that will certainly capture your attention. In our Potensic D20 review, I’m going to talk about design, performance, and features. The purpose of the Potensic D20 review is to inform drone shoppers like you know what this quadcopter brings to the table. Without further ado, let’s get the propellers spinning!

Design

The Potensic D20 drone features an aerodynamic design that focuses on minimizing the air drag as much as possible. While it also maximizes the airflow for better performance. This mini-sized drone comes in a sleek white coating around its main body framework. With jet black coloring around its framework and propeller guards. It comes with propeller guards which act as a shock absorber. This is especially useful for beginners because when you fly the drone for the first time, it’s likely you’ll crash on the first few flight attempts.

So, the guards are there to protect the drone and extend its durability. One thing that I liked about this drone is how the LED lights are placed. They’re located at each beginning of the motor arms that helps provide visual spotting during the daytime and nighttime. The Potensic D20 drone uses coreless motors that are far much more effective for reduced friction and better RPM. Additionally, the drone is crafted of durable ABS plastic that’s far better compared to standard plastic found on cheap quality quadcopters.

The ABS plastic is more durable and tough to break which makes it an excellent choice for beginners. This little bird uses a 3.7V 450mAh battery that gives it around 7 minutes of flying time. It’s a decent flight time for a drone within its price range. Furthermore, the Potensic D20 drone has a remote control distance of up to 100 meters which gives plenty of flying room for beginners and first-time flyers. Overall, the design quality of the Potensic D20 drone is very good.

Performance

In the next part of the Potensic D20 review, we’re going to talk about performance. Often of the time when it comes to shopping for the right drone, performance is a major factor. Because we’re looking at the drone which we can’t touch or test to see how well it performs. I have included a Potensic D20 review video for you to see its performance. One key feature that makes the Potensic D20 mini drone unique and different apart its competitor is that it’s installed with an intelligent chip.

Now, you might be wondering what the heck an intelligent chip and what it can do. An intelligent chip is an upgrade from a 6-axis gyroscope and barometer. It functions the same way but because the chip is built to detect and adjust accordingly that ensures a smooth and stable hovering position. This is a major step toward making the drones easier for beginners to learn how to fly. In addition to that, this mini-sized drone comes with three-speed levels. On default, it’ll be at the slowest speed setting so that beginners can learn the flight controls.

This presents an opportunity for beginners and recreational remote pilots like you to master your piloting skills. Once you feel comfortable, you can increase the speed level to challenge yourself. Not to mention that the Potensic D20 mini drone comes with a 720P HD camera that delivers quality images and videos. It isn’t exactly that stellar though, it provides a nice training experience for those beginners who are vying to become an aerial photographer. Features

Surprisingly enough, the Potensic D20 mini drone is a features packed quadcopter. This is a drone that’ll provide you endless hours of fun to keep you and your friends company. Here is why: it comes with headless mode, altitude hold function, built-in intelligent chip, 360-degree flip mode, automatic takeoff/landing, return to home function, and emergency functions. If you think that stuffing a lot of features in a mini-sized drone is wrong, think again. Because the Potensic D20 drone can perform all of these features including speed mode, take picture, and video.

As I mentioned previously about the headless mode, which probably has you thinking about what it exactly does. It switches the control orientation from the drone to the transmitter. Instead of flying the drone in the direction that it’s facing, you fly the drone based on the direction you’re pushing the movement lever. This makes the whole flight operation much easier and simple for beginners to learn how to fly. After all, this is a feature-packed mini-sized drone that will entertain beginners and kids.

Bottom Line

The bottom line of this is that the Potensic D20 mini drone is a good quality quadcopter for beginners. Thanks to its sturdy and durable design that makes it quite a formidable intelligent mini-sized drone. In addition to that, its performance is one of the best you will ever see. Its multitude of beginner-friendly features makes the whole flight operations simple and easy enough that a person with no prior flying experience will be able to pick up. Thus, it makes a great path for beginners to master their piloting and aerial photography skills before investing in expensive drones such as the Phantom 4 Pro or Mavic 2.

However, its camera quality isn’t exactly the best. It’s tolerable, but it’s something that you should expect from drones within these price ranges. You won’t find a drone with great camera quality for under $100. If you’re looking for a starter drone with a camera, you’re better off checking out the Ophelia (see white version too) or one of these professional camera drones. They come with a beginner mode that dumb down the speed and performance that you can learn how to fly a drone. But for beginners, I recommend you start with Potensic D20 mini drone.
