DJI Mavic 3 Rumors Release on January 2020: Are These Rumors True?

There are rumors circulating that DJI Mavic 3 should be released in January 2020. Although, it’s mostly in the air right now as there is no confirmation. However, rumors about the possibility of DJI Mavic 3 drone coming much sooner than expected could be due to Autel Robotics gearing up with their recently unveiled EVO 2 drone, featuring monster specifications.

DJI is well-known for its marketing tactics. It is no wonder that they have chosen to leak news about the Mavic 3 release right after Autel Robotics introduced EVO 2 drone. Several drone enthusiasts might be able to recall that the company utilized the same strategy after GoPro failed to launch into the drone consumer market with their GoPro Karma.

We have been following this Twitter account closely for a while. Rumors about DJI new drones from this account have been proven right. More often than not. As per this tweet, we have shared an image of the rumors that the DJI Mavic 3 drone will bring to the table:

DJI Mavic 3 Concept

The following upgrades DJI Mavic 3 drone will have:

  • Active Track 3.0
  • ADS-B Recievers
  • 4K60 Video Capability
  • 10 Visual Sensing Cameras
  • Visionsync 3.0
  • Occusync 3.0

DJI Mavic 3 Drone and Remote ID

Earlier this year, the FAA has proposed the integration of Remote ID for the new generation of drones. Older drones that do not have installed broadcasting device needs to be phased. They need to comply with this upcoming regulatory. Fortunately, the DJI Mavic 3 drone has ADS-B receivers. It will allow the public agencies to monitor the quadcopter at all times.

Concerning the quality of the camera, this drone will be equipped with. It will still use the Hasselblad camera which is perfect for aerial photography. However, the inability to record videos at 4K60 on DJI Mavic 2 Pro dissuaded some of the professional remote pilots from buying it. If you have noticed footage captured by DJI Mavic 2 Pro, these footages are far from desirable as they contained some noise and soft texture.

We hope that DJI Mavic 3 plans to addresses these imaging quality issues with a better camera. However, we’re a bit disappointed when we learned that this drone won’t be having the 6K or 8K video camera capabilities. From a certain perspective, it does seems that DJI is stuck on a treadmill. That it’s unable to push their quality of drones any further for avid aerial photographers.

However, anything is possible. DJI might reconsider their strategy and step up their game to introduce DJI Mavic 3 drone with actual significant upgrades. This will capture new and returning customers if they are going to stand a chance against Autel Robotics EVO 2 drone. What do you think of rumors regarding DJI’s new drone?
