10 Best Drones With HD Camera in 2019

Drones are becoming popular in the business world due to the usefulness it has to offer. If you’re starting your own aerial photography business, this can be your goal or passion. But drones with an expensive price tag like DJI Mavic Pro (See Price) and Phantom 4 Pro (See Price) may make you err. There are many great quality drones with an affordable price that are equipped with HD cameras. Some of the drones with an HD camera that I’m going to list don’t feature the same advanced tidbits that you’ll see on expensive models.

However, they’re a great and useful drone to train you on how to take quality shots. By incorporating the lighting quality and positioning the drone to take a unique perspective. They can provide you invaluable experience before you move on to expensive drones with a camera. There are many drones with an HD camera in the consumer market right now. But how do you know if they’re good or not?

Cofight IN 1802 Drone Showcase

This is why I decided to write a complete and detailed buying guide to help shoppers like you find the best drones with HD camera. I have at least several drones that I own and actually enjoyed the features that they have to provide. As the drones are becoming more and more modern. You’ll see a large number of drones with HD cameras showing up in the market.

But to avoid shopper’s regret, I’m going to explain what exactly are drones with an HD camera. After that, I’ll show you the best drones with an HD camera and you can make the decision which one you want. Whether it’s a birthday gift to yourself or to surprise your friend, the ones that I’m going to list are good quality and highly recommended.

What are Drones with HD cameras?

HD camera or High-Definition camera is different than drones with a regular camera. Generally what it means is that the camera consists of 1280 x 720 pixels which add up to 921,600 pixels. The same is true for 1080p HD camera which creates 1920 x 1080 image resolution. Thus, they aren’t technically a megapixel camera at all. They can go up as far as 4K resolution depending on the specifications of the camera.

Anything beyond 4K resolution and to a certain extent on some drones with 4K cameras can be considered as an ultra-high-definition. The drones with HD cameras are capable of producing high-quality images compared to the toy-grade drones with a regular camera. The image and videos that you see are quality enough to make difference in how they are processed with the mounted HD camera.

Some of the drones are equipped with an HD camera that is optimized which means it’s refined and improved for stronger connection using Wi-Fi signal to transmit a live video feed to your smartphone app. Most of the drones with HD cameras usually are mounted in the front just like its counterpart. However, there are some drones which feature gimbal HD camera. They usually go for a slightly higher price tag but is still affordable compared to fancy quadcopters.

What is the difference between SD, HD, and UHD?

When it comes to choosing drones with an HD camera or 4K camera, you need to understand the difference between these types of cameras. Generally speaking, the 4K quality beats 1080 HD in terms of picture quality. But it’s nowhere that close in how we measure the pixels for each picture.

Standard Definition (SD) goes up from 480p to full 1080p HD. These pixels are measured vertically. 4K and beyond, the pixels are measured horizontally which means they have almost four times more than a full 1080p HD. This translates to better image quality and of course eats up more memory.

Drones with HD Camera vs 4K Camera

While having pictures with more pixels means the quality of images is great. But getting a true 4K resolution isn’t that quite simple. In fact, it does takes quite a bit more investment than buying drones with an HD camera. Because the 4K quality content is so huge in terms of resolution, you’ll need to have your equipment upgraded to be able to produce these images. If you don’t have the right equipment for 4K content, the image quality will degrade, and upgrading them can well become expensive.

Drones with HD cameras are one of the most affordable options available to beginners who want to learn how to fly a drone. But also to practice their aerial photography skills before moving on to popular and expensive drones with a 4K camera. In terms of image quality, having a drone with an HD camera is still far better than a drone with a standard camera. Thanks to technology advancement, more drones with HD cameras are becoming available and affordable to compete as starter choices.

The most expensive, yet advanced drone equipped with HD camera capability. This quadcopter is outfitted with a 3-axis gimbal camera that can captures stills and videos on a 2.7K HD resolution. While it’s an old model, there are at least several pilots who still use Phantom 3 Advanced mainly because of its affordable cost and the image quality that it has to offer.

The DJI Phantom 3 Advanced doesn’t incorporate the same feature that you would normally see on its successor, the Phantom 4 Pro (See Price). So, the Phantom 3 Advanced doesn’t have that many intelligent flight options and the like. But it does have an obstacle avoidance detection system only in the front. This means you will have to pay attention to the direction it is flying on the sides and back.

One exceptional feature that Phantom 3 Advanced introduces to the world of aerial photography is the ability to produce both JPEG and RAW format files. With RAW stills, you can easily post-process the images using Photoshop and Lightroom to achieve certain quality and appearance to impress your audience.

Furthermore, a single battery life gives you a flight time of 23 minutes. Realistically, you will be able to fly it for up to 20 minutes. The Phantom 3 Advanced also takes advantage of its incredible stability and easy to control thanks to the incorporation of GPS/GLONASS features. This means it communicates with the satellite to provide an accurate position to ensure a smooth flight experience.

We think the Phantom 3 Advanced is a great drone with an HD camera to start with for those who are on a tight budget or want to learn how to fly a quadcopter with amazing aerial photography capabilities.

8.8Expert Score
Phantom 3 Advanced

The Phantom 3 Advanced might be at least a few years old after its successor's debut. But it is still one of the most popular drone with HD camera at an affordable price tag. Pilots still use them for aerial photography and recreational purpose.

Contixo F18

× Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com (Amazon.in, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc) at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

Now that we’ve set professional drones with HD cameras aside. The Contixo F18 is an affordable drone with a 1080p HD camera. They are among the contenders heading against other brands such as Holy Stone and SYMA. But we think the Contixo F18 is a very good quadcopter that deserves to be placed in second place. Here is why:

The Contixo F18 is outfitted with brushless motors. Contrasting to the drones that use brushed motors, brushless motors help improve battery life and reduces the power it needs to fly. Furthermore, brushless motors usually end up being a smart investment in the long term. With brushed motors, you’ll have to replace it every 4 to 5 hours of use which will add up the cost in the run.

Not only does it have great battery life that lets you soar around for 20 minutes, the drone comes with a built-in GPS module. Many customers who bought the Contixo F18 are satisfied with how well it performs. The features that use the GPS module such as loss signals, smart return to home, and automatic return when the battery gets low all work like a charm.

Camera-wise, the package comes with a mountable 1080p HD. But you’ll have the option if you’re looking to make a long term investment. You can choose to upgrade the Contixo F18 with a 4K camera if you desire to do so. With a flight time of 20 minutes and a control range up to approximately 500 meters, this is a decent quadcopter for beginners.

8.4Expert Score

This is a great drone for those who are looking to have one that they can grow with it over the time. With a great aftermarket support featuring extra batteries, charger and the option to upgrade quality of camera to 4K resolution. The Contixo F18 is an affordable option for those who wants to start flying a smart drone.

HS100 Navigator

× Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com (Amazon.in, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc) at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

The Holy Stone also have drones with HD camera for sale. Most notable is their recently released HS100 Navigator. It resembles a similar appearance to the Obsidian Phantom 4 Pro (See Price). The HS100 Navigator is one of the most popular drones with an HD camera that has attracted more than 1,000 customer reviews who praised it for excellent performance and quality.

While it uses a mounted camera that can record and capture stills on a 720p HD setting. The camera is optimized to further enhance your first-person view experience. By expanding beyond the Wi-Fi signal capacity, you can see live feed video as far as the drone goes up to 500 meters away. We think it’s a killer feature to have for an advanced drone in a very good way.

But that doesn’t just stop right there. The HS100 Navigator comes with a GPS-assisted module that helps makes it easy to fly for beginners. Unlike most of the drones at its price range, the HS100 Navigator has a follow-me feature. Basically what it does is follow you anywhere you want to go. It’s a nifty feature to have especially if you’re going on a solo journey and having a drone recording your travel.

Obviously, the HS100 Navigator is a very popular drone with an HD camera, it only can be flown for up to 15 minutes. Realistically, you’ll be able to fly it around 12 to 13 minutes. I’d recommend that you purchase additional batteries for the drone. At least two to three batteries should be good enough for a full hour of flight time.

And did I forget to mention that this quadcopter comes with an 8GB memory card included? The package comes with all the accessories you need to start making aerial videos. Coupled with intelligent flight modes and an advanced navigation safety system, this is truly an affordable drone to start with.

HS100 Navigator

The HS100 Navigator quickly makes to one of the best selling drone for its features and optimized HD camera. With a control distance of 500 meters and a flight time of 15 minutes, you can enjoy FPV mode lag-free with full and exciting experience.

Potensic T25

Another similar design style to the famed Phantom series. The Potensic T25 is a medium-tier drone featuring a dual GPS + GLONASS system for powerful and precise flight controls. Using the satellites to communicate and ensuring that beginners will have an easy time learning how to fly a drone.

The Potensic T25 comes with two notable features. First, it has an intelligent flight mode that enables Follow Me Mode. It can actively track you anywhere you go and it will follow you. Secondly, it has a Waypoint Mode. Which you can customize your own flight path for the drone. Along with these notable features, the drone is equipped with automatic landing and takeoff for easy operation. Furthermore, it comes with a beginner-friendly feature, especially altitude hold function and headless mode.

This drone is equipped with a powerful 1080p HD camera that’s adjustable up to 90°. The package doesn’t come with an SD card, so you’ll have to purchase it separately. Our recommendations for the SD card to get the best quality out of the drone’s camera would be the Samsung 64GB micro card. Its bitrate is high enough to support a smooth video quality as well as images.

Flight-wise, the Potensic T25 uses a 7.4V 1000mAh battery capacity which gives you approximately 11 to 12 minutes. It also has a control range up to 300 meters which is quite comfortable for a medium-sized drone. Overall, we think that if you like how the Phantom 4 Pro is designed but the price tag is too high. Then the Potensic T25 could be a great alternative choice for you along with its HD camera.

8.4Expert Score
Potensic T25

An  affordable drone with HD camera as alternative choice to the popular DJI Phantom 4 Pro. This drone is outfitted with a powerful 1080p HD camera and a control range 300 meters that makes it a good starter quadcopter for beginners.

HS230 RC Racing

Last Amazon price update was: March 12, 2024 5:49 am
× Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com (Amazon.in, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc) at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

The HS230 RC Racing Drone is among one of the popular quadcopters for experienced racers. Unlike the entry-level H150 Bolt Bee (See Price), the HS230 drone comes with advanced features and a 720p HD camera. The transmitter uses a 5.8GHz frequency that ensures a smooth and near-instantaneous stream of the video feed from the camera. It’s particularly useful for a racing drone that tends to be on the move quite fast.

First and foremost, the HS230 RC racing drone isn’t made for beginners. But rather it’s geared toward racers who are interested in sports drones. It’s important to make a note that it doesn’t have altitude hold or any automatic features. In fact, the drone is completely about being able to control its manual which plays a large role in showing off your piloting skill. So it’s constantly rising and falling that makes it a bit challenging to take aerial videography.

The drone comes with a built-in 720p HD camera that has a field of view up to 120°. But, the downside of that is the camera isn’t adjustable. It’s fixed and that’s a big disadvantage for those who are looking to have a drone for aerial photography. Basically, it is stuck at the point it aims, just like with the altitude hold function. Furthermore, it doesn’t come with a memory card slot. If you want to save videos and pictures, you’ll have to copy it over to your computer using a USB attached to the drone.

On the final notes, the HS230 RC racing drone has quite a few drawbacks. On beginner mode, you’ll be able to fly it for around 15 minutes. When you switch it over to advanced mode, it’s likely you’ll get at least 8 to 10 minutes out of a single battery charge. It’s a decent racing drone for racers who wants to fly a fast quadcopter. Best of all, you really don’t need a smartphone or tablet to see a live video feed. Since it’s already built into the transmitter that offers you a smoother FPV experience. Overall, a decent drone with an HD camera for racers.

8.6Expert Score
HS230 RC Racing

Combined with high speed, complete manual control and HD camera. This drone offers you the complete experience of what it is like to race a drone. We think this is a quality drone built to challenge your piloting skill to prepare for racing league.

HS200D FPV RC

× Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com (Amazon.in, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc) at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

When it comes to showing you the drones with HD cameras, Holy Stone dominates in this field. Many of the drones with HD cameras for sale are manufactured by Holy Stone that is high quality and well crafted. The HS200D FPV RC is no exception for its popularity among beginners. It incorporates all the features that make your flight experience easy and enjoyable. With four-speed modes, altitude hold, and automatic take-off makes it a breeze to fly the HS200D drone.

Like most of the modern drones, the HS200D quadcopter uses a modularized battery. The main feature of a modularized battery provides an additional layer of protection against overcharge and discharge. Furthermore, it lets you know the status of the battery via the transmitter screen. On a single charge, you’ll get between 10 to 15 minutes. Depending on the weather conditions and how aggressive you are flying the drone.

Additional features can be unlocked via connecting the drone to your smartphone that lets you capture pictures and videos. Furthermore, the drone comes with a 4GB memory card to help you get started on aerial photography. Performance-wise, it’s quite fast. On the lowest setting, it gives beginners the opportunity to practice and learn how to fly a drone. Once you’ve acquired and mastered your flight skill, you can crank to the highest setting for completely manual control to give you challenges.

The quality of the camera mounted on the HS200D drone isn’t exactly that stellar as the 1080p HD drones. However, it’s capable of capturing stills and videos on a 720p HD setting. With a wide-angle lens view of 120°, it does an incredible job of capturing a lot of things within a small screen. Moreover, the transmitter comes with a built-in mount holder for your smartphone. The mount holder is elastic enough to fit a large phone like the iPhone 7 Plus (See Price).

8.6Expert Score
HS200D FPV RC

This little swift bird is an excellent affordable choice for beginners looking to have a drone with HD camera. It doesn't comes with advanced features such as GPS or Intelligent Flight Modes. But thanks to its built-in barometer, it is stable and very easy to fly.

The DJI Ryze Tello is a brand new drone that was launched a few months ago. Dubbed as the potential toy-grade drone killer because of its portable size, incredible battery life, stuffed with advanced features, and a camera with a stunning quality of 5 MP. You won’t find any drones that close like the DJI Ryze Tello, maybe except for its clone: IN 1802 Drone (See Price).

So what makes this adorable quadcopter a serious contender? The DJI Ryze Tello is mainly geared for people who are in STEM. This allows them the opportunity to learn how to program custom flight paths and tricks. But that isn’t only limited to people who are majoring in STEM. It’s a great drone for adults too and is completely open to anyone who wants to learn how to code.

Unlike the rest of toy-grade drones with HD camera, you can customize your own tricks. The standard trick that it comes is 8D flips which means it can flip in any directions. But if you want to create a triple barrel rolls or continuous rolls, it’s possible via programming. Furthermore, it’s equipped with proximity sensors that act similarly to an obstacle avoidance detection system. A nice brand new feature for a safe flight navigation system.

The DJI Tello is quite portable and fits around the size of your palm. It comes with a battery that gives around 13 minutes of flight time. A killer flight time for a drone at this price tag. As I mentioned previously that this drone has a 5MP camera which is a big deal. While it still takes images and videos on HD setting, it’s quite capable of taking quality shots that puts DJI Tello ahead of its contenders.

Another great drone with an HD camera is the U818 Plus. It’s manufactured by DROCON, a US-based company. This drone is a little bigger than most of the quadcopters in its price range. But it comes with almost every feature that you can think of for a mid-sized drone. Not to mention that it has a good battery life which lets you fly around for 15 minutes.

While it’s big, it’s probably not a great idea to fly indoors. However, it’s easy to fly outdoor. Performance-wise, it can handle light to moderate winds with ease. Thanks to advanced motors that give it extra propulsion force for speed and stability. Contrasted with the brushed motors, the brushless motors extend the drone’s lifespan and take less toll on the battery. This means it only requires little power while the majority of the battery can focus on extending the drone’s flight time.

The DROCON U818 Plus comes with a mounted camera that you can adjust it at least some degree. It does a great job capturing stills and videos on 720p HD quality and sees in a 120° FPV. Introducing the Syma X5UW drone. This affordable drone with an HD camera is one quadcopter for beginners with great quality. While it doesn’t come with a lot of features as you would see on more advanced drones. The SYMA is well known for its excellent customer service reputation and it is no exception with this drone.

The SYMA X5UW drone comes with an extra battery that extends your flight time. On the product page, the manufacturer claimed that each battery goes between 5 to 10 minutes. But realistically, you’ll be flying it up to 8 minutes at most. With the extra battery, you double the flight time to 16 minutes which is a nice deal. However, if you prefer to increase your flight time, they sell modularized batteries 4 in 1 pack here.

But when it comes to the image quality of the camera. It isn’t that stellar as the drones ranked high in this list. Because the SYMA X5UW uses a 1MP camera. That means you’ll have to rely heavily on the lighting quality to acquire a good still and video. However, that being said, the drone still captures and records on the 720p HD setting. At this price range, we think it’s quite fair and a trade-off for a low-quality camera.

Furthermore, the SYMA X5UW is equipped with some really cool features. It can perform automatic landing and takeoff which makes your flight control completely smooth and easy. Also, you can rotate the drone and perform 360-degree flips. It even comes with altitude hold function and headless mode. But your flying doesn’t have to stop when it gets dark outside. Its color LED lights provide a bright and visible assisting position that makes fun to watch it fly in the dark!

Lastly, we really liked how the drone and transmitter are designed. It’s rare to see a blue and white combination but they really do hit the mark. The remote controller looks very professional yet it comes with an inscription on the buttons for easy to understand. Furthermore, you can mount your smartphone on it so you can view the live video and drone at the same time.

Syma X5UW

A great quality drone with HD camera built for beginners. It comes with unique style and appearance that is worth the attention. While it doesn't include that many features, it is a popular choice for first time flyers who wants a simple drone to fly.

Ever wanted to own a DJI Mavic Air? But its price tag is too steep for you? Well, there’s a great alternative choice and I actually own this drone. Love it by the way. The X12 Drone is a recently released product last month that has attracted the attention for its unique chrome design and features. It’s also one of the first modern quadcopters that are becoming a serious contender among toy-grade drones.

It features foldable motor arms that you can easily fold into a portable drone and stuff in your case or backpack to go with anywhere. The battery that it uses is packed with an incredible powerful 1000mAh modularized Li-Po which gives it a flight time of 12 minutes. With a long flight time, it puts a lot of drones with low battery capacity to shame.

But, that’s not all about the X12 RC drone. It features a powerful 2MP camera that captures and records on a 720p HD setting. Furthermore, the camera is adjustable which means you can change the direction you want it to see. The only drawback to that is the camera has to be adjusted manually. It can’t be done automatically as an advanced drone normally would do.

Even so, the X12 RC drone is jam-packed with a load of features. Without the app, you can perform return to home, switch speed mode, do a 360-degree flip. Along with beginner-friendly like altitude hold and headless mode all within the remote controller itself. When you use the app and connect to the drone, you gain more access to a wide array of features. From that point, you can perform Follow Me Mode and customize your own flight path.

At that price tag, the number of features and it’s incredibly durable, portable, and nifty design. We think the X12 RC Drone is a killer quadcopter for beginners. With the length of flight time and how well it performs that is so easy for first-time flyers to learn. It’s likely to become one of the best selling drones.

The IN 1802 drone is a direct clone of the popular DJI Ryze Tello. Of course, it doesn’t come with the same features that Tello has. Therefore, it’s not possible to program or code your own customization flight paths and tricks. But here’s the catch. The IN 1802 Drone is another recently release drone that comes with incredible battery life.

Using 1000mAh Li-Po modularized battery, you can fly it with ease for up to 12 minutes. On the front of its nose is an adjustable camera that you can manually point it in the direction. Like the X12 RC drone, the camera can’t be controlled automatically. Furthermore, the drone isn’t equipped with a micro SD card slot. So whatever you capture with the camera will be stored in both the app and mobile album system.

Speaking of camera quality, it can shoots and records at astonishing 2MP with a 720p HD setting. It provides beginners the opportunity to learn how to take advantage of lighting quality in the aerial photography field. Furthermore, the remote controller comes with a foldable mount holder. It can be stretch wide enough for you to fit your iPhone 7 Plus (See Price) with a phone case on it. The camera live video feed is quite smooth and responsive with occasion lag input.

However, the main selling point that IN 1802 drone has to offer is its wide set of features. The remote controller comes with an inscription for easy to understand. Features-wise, you can perform headless mode, altitude hold function, and even switch speed mode. The performance of IN 1802 drone is quite fast as HS150 Bolt Bee (See Price).  Thanks to its weight, you can fly it in an outdoor setting with ease. Not only is it capable of flying, but it also has a light to moderate wind resistance. It makes a great drone for indoor activity.

With your smartphone connected to the drone, you gain access to additional features. Major features such as Waypoint Mode and Follow Me mode. Moreover, you can control the drone using your smartphone based on the Gravity Sensor feature. That mode essentially switches the controls from the transmitter to your smartphone. If you tilt your smartphone to the left, the drone will fly to the left and vice versa.

But the drones with HD cameras which we listed are the best ones you can find after doing research and deep searching. Some of them are new, so we tested them and found them to have the actual potential to become bestsellers. For instance, the X12 Drone (See Price) and IN 1802 Drone (See Price) are still relatively new. But they have huge potential considering their battery life and a huge set of features.

The most expensive drone with an HD camera would be the Phantom 3 Advanced (See Price). It’s a great drone to start with if you’re into making money off with aerial photography. Some remote pilots still own Phantom 3 Advanced and produce quality aerial shots that put it as a strong contender against Phantom 4 Pro (See Price) and DJI Mavic Pro (See Price).

Drones With HD Camera

  1. I am surprised by some of the drones with hd camera are affordable at these price range. Especially the new IN 1802 drone caught my attention. It looks very similar to the DJI Tello quadcopter. Great article, I ordered that drone for my twelve years old son because it looks very cool and packed with features!
